Nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood near America-yama Park, just a two-minute walk from Motomachi station, lies the cozy, home-like restaurant Cafeteria CRu. It is the second branch of the same CRu we featured in our June edition last year, but is more intimate and casual. It’s the perfect place for having a relaxing dinner with family or friends.
While the atmosphere may be casual, the food and drinks both are top rate. As you might have expected, the chef, Kenichiro Hoshino, is someone with experience, having trained for many years at a famous hotel. Each dish shines with his technique. We visited for lunch, which featured a four-option menu: Napolitan spaghetti set (¥1300), locomoco lunch plate (¥1000), omlet rice set (¥1000), and salted French toast with salmon-avocado salad (¥1300). You could add daily soup (¥500) or dessert (¥300) to any. The noodles of the Napolitan were thick and slathered with the trademark ketchup of that dish to give it rich flavor. Apparently, the basist of Yokohama’s nationally famous Crazy Ken Band raves over it. A sliced cucumber salad (¥600) with light, refreshing dressing was perfect for the season, too. Another popular item: uni risotto (prices vary).
What else would we recommend but wine here? CRu is actually a direct importer and distributor of fine wines from America and Australia, meaning you get it fresh for very reasonable prices (glass, ¥600; bottles, ¥3000~). Otherwise, there are standard cocktails (¥600~) and soft drinks (¥500~).
Drop by with some friends who love good food, share a few plates together, and enjoy the summer evening breeze with wine in hand.
