Golden Week is one of the busiest travel times of the year in Japan. Clogged highways, jam-packed trains, crowded airports (and overpriced flights). It’s no surprise so many people decide to just stay in their hometown. If you are one of those people and live in Yokohama, then lucky you! What better place to be stuck for the holidays than Yokohama?! The slower pace of this big city will help make your holidays actually relaxing.
After the Golden Week holidays, we enter a period of some of the most pleasant weather in Yokohama. The days are warm, but not yet muggy, and the rainy season that marks June has not yet begun. The thousands of tulips around Yokohama Stadium should all be in bloom, and wisteria will begin showing its lavender hues as well. It’s a great time for a picnic in the park, a stroll through Yokohama’s greener neighborhoods, or even a drink at an outdoor cafe.
Whatever your preference, just make sure you get out! Don’t stay at home in such a beautiful city. All the businesses, cultural centers and public employees are there for you. As we always say, together we can make Yokohama an even better place.
