One of the crazier events of the year in Yokohama is the Killer B Party. Local craft beer importer Nagano Trading hosts it annually at the historical Yokohama Country and Athletic Club in Yamate. The “B” in the name refers to beer, of course, but also bowling and beer-pong, two pastimes that seem to go well with beer. That’s right–YCAC has a beautiful old bowling alley, among other excellent sports and recreation facilities. And if you don’t know what beer-pong is, well, you’ll find out if you attend. YCAC will also be serving some excellent food care of their executive chef.
For those of you that don’t know, Nagano Trading imports some of the best American craft beer, from large breweries like Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas and New Belgium, to lesser-known ones primarily from southern California. The company also runs a popular tasting room in Yoshidamachi called Antenna America (see ad, page 19). There, you can find a dazzling array of craft beers available for very affordable prices. At the Killer B Party, however, guests can enjoy as much as they like, which is why things can get a little crazy. Nagano Trading has made it a custom to unveil a rare seasonal beer or two at the party every year, so if you are a beer aficionado, be on the lookout for some special delicious brews. And don’t be afraid to wear a crazy costume if you like.
Interested in going? Then place a reservation with Nagano Trading and you’ll be able to enjoy all-you-can-drink craft beer, recreational games and the festive company of other beer lovers. Advanced tickets are ¥5000, while door charges on the day are ¥5500. Antenna America does limit numbers to several hundred so we recommend you reserve in advance if you’d like to go.
