We’re always pleased to introduce services that make life more comfortable and there’s nothing like a good accountant to reduce headaches. Kazutomo Shimizu brings international experience to the table and offers an array of other services as well. His firm supports an increasing number of sole proprietors by handling their invoices, receipts and bookkeeping. For managers of bigger businesses, he can alleviate some of their work and also devise tax reduction strategies.
As Shimizu is fluent in English, his services include English-language bookkeeping, tax returns and tax counseling services. For expats and overseas businesses, he’s a lifesaver because he’s quite familiar with international tax regulations. There are actually very few accountants with experience like his, so we asked him why it’s essential for a small business to have an accountant.
Shimizu replied, “It’s certainly possible for a small business to do its own accounting, but as a business grows and turns a profit, its taxes increase. That’s when you’re really going to need an accountant with detailed knowledge of bookkeeping and tax law. For companies, as opposed to individuals, it’s very difficult to do tax returns correctly. Accounting is highly specialized work. By leaving this to a professional, business owners can pour more energy into their core activities. There’s also great cost performance in contracting the work to us because they don’t have to hire an employee to do it internally. And you never know when you’re going to get audited. If you don’t have an accountant then, the tax office could levy some unreasonable taxes.”
Shimizu’s overseas experience began while working for an international oil company, which enrolled him in a program at the University of Texas, Austin. Shimizu relates, “I had just gotten married so it was like a second honeymoon. I made a number of friends there and we keep in touch to this day.”
Shimizu was born to a generations-old Yokohama family and continues to work here. He likes the city’s convenience and comfort, as well as its international character. Of course, he’s one of the people contributing to all of this! Thanks Shimizu.
