From the minute you walk into Craftsman Yokohama, you know you’re in for a treat. The long line of taps in a half circle of copper piping that encircles the bar catches your eye immediately. With a stylish interior and open kitchen, it makes for a great place to entertain a date or business clients. The range of selections available is quite impressive; both the drinks and food menu will leave you in a conundrum of choices.
Let’s start with the beers. Craftsman Yokohama has 31 on tap, ranging from Japanese standard pilsners like Asahi, Kirin and Sapporo (all ¥550) to international and domestic craft beers of all varieties (small, ¥500/regular, ¥800). They also have an amazing selection of bottles with over 50 from Belgium alone (¥980~) and another 50+ from around the world (¥630~) with some very rare varieties included. Pick from ten wines by the glass (¥550~) or choose from an entire page of bottles (¥2530~). Cocktails and fine spirits are also in abundance on the menu.
We won’t discourage going just for the drinks, but you’d be missing out on some excellent food. The Calzone with Foie Gras and Japanese Beef (¥1250) was a standout. The Spicy Grilled Magurokama (tuna jaw; ¥830) wasn’t far behind. A glance over at what the table next to you ordered will surely have you planning your next trip. We’ve already succumbed to that impulse.
