The interior and atmosphere of Byrd’s GRILL & BAR are reminiscent of a traditional American-style sports bar. TV screens above the well-stocked bar broadcast a variety of sporting events and shows. Red checkered tablecloths add a sense of being in a local US diner.
The menu is loaded with popular US favorites like burgers, pizza, wings and clam chowder with an additional focus on Cal-Mex cuisine like enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas and jalapeño poppers. For starters, I ordered a 300g Rib Eye Steak (¥3600 / 450g, ¥4800 / 600g, ¥6300), which was simply seasoned to accentuate the savory flavor of the meat. Another great dish to try is the Patty Melt–a juicy beef patty topped with melted cheese and caramelized onions sandwiched between slices of amply buttered toast. I should note that they serve breakfast all day if you have a craving for bacon and eggs or an omelette.
Byrd’s boasts an extensive drink menu, too. I recommend trying the Craft Beer Flight (¥2000), a balanced selection of four different craft beers. Wine, cocktails, tequila and other varieties of hard alcohol are also on the menu. For dessert, the mouth-watering Pecan Pie topped with whipped cream is a must. I recommend opting to eat it warmed.
Byrd’s staff is friendly and accommodating, making venturing in alone easy. The restaurant also has a kid-friendly environment so making the visit a family affair is also encouraged. Byrd’s is located at the bottom of the stairs near exit 1 of Center Kita subway station. If you take a liking to the place, try visiting one of their three other American-themed sister shops in Yokohama.
