Opened in April of 2016, Blue Moon Zushi is the sister restaurant of the popular beach house of the same name in Isshiki-Kaigan. A short walk from Zushi Station, the restaurant offers the same comfortable and cosy atmosphere as the beach house. Its friendly staff, intimate decor, and throwback music selection of reggae and chill tunes from the 70s make it a welcome addition to the Zushi city center.
Being close to the ocean, it’s no surprise that Blue Moon has a varied selection of sashimi (¥1000~) as part of their main offerings. On our visit these included Misaki tuna, Sajima bonito, sea bass, yellowtail, and octopus. Additional seafood offerings include succulent Jamaican Steamed Fish (¥1800) and Roasted Fish with Herbs (¥1200~). Also on the menu is a healthy selection of grilled dishes, including a variety of grilled seasonal vegetables (¥950).
For drinks the bar has some fine craft beer choices. On tap when we stopped by were selections from Barbaric Works (Chigasaki) and Stone Brewing. There were also bottled offerings from Pizza Port, Sierra Nevada, and Six Point (all beer ¥900~). If you are looking for something other than beer, they offer a wide variety of spirits and cocktails.
The convenient proximity to both the station and beach make Blue Moon Zushi a perfect place to end a fun beach day by kicking back and grabbing a beer with some quality food. Be sure to also head over to the Isshiki-Kaigan beach house which is open now through the end of August.
